West Cork Arts Centre
The design proposes a new building for The West Cork Arts Centre that helps to develop their current activities and public presence. It consists of a series of straightforward architectural principles that provides a framework that is adaptable for the client’s future needs. A calm but sculptural form establishes the identity of the new building, which occupies a prominent location in the centre of Skibbereen and will be visible from afar. The angled profile of its solid rendered form sits within the composition of surrounding familiar building forms and yet at the same time confirms its own strong presence.
The building contains a mixture of spaces for artists studios and exhibition, multifunctional events and conferences and a room dedicated to performance. with a break out space to an external terrace, which could generate additional revenue for the West Cork Arts Centre.
