The new council offices and chambers of both Navan town and County Meath are brought together and arranged around a new public square which links the town with landscaped parkland via a new pedestrian bridge.
Departments are arranged in their own respective buildings joined with a central daylight atrium. Each building relates in scale to the surrounding context and has its own internal circulation but benefits from a common legible security point delineating public and private domains physically, whilst maintaining visual links into the workings of the buildings. The main council chamber is located in a double height space overlooking the new public square.
The lightweight facade varies in depth according to orientation and provides good solar shading whilst affording excellent views to town and landscape. All of the office buildings and chambers are to be naturally lit and ventilated for a sense of control and wellbeing in the working environments as well as low energy life cycle costing.
